Mary Jane (Tartal) Molesky

May 31, 1939 — January 12, 2023

Mary Jane (née Tartal) Molesky passed away at home on January 12, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

She was the beloved mother of Mark Molesky of New York City and Jonathan Molesky of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as well as the dear sister of Michael Tartal, the loving sister-in-law of Mary Ann Tartal, the dear aunt to many nieces and nephews, and still a loving companion of Thomas Molesky. She was the devoted daughter of the late John A. Tartal and the late Theresa Shaffer Tartal and the loving sister of the late John P. Tartal and the late Theresa Patterson-Tartal.

Mary Jane was born in Everson, Pennsylvania. A graduate of the Catholic High School of Baltimore, she received a scholarship to attend the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where she majored in history. After graduation, she worked as a social worker for Child Protective Services in Baltimore's Department of Social Services in the 1960s. After moving to Birmingham, Michigan, she obtained a master's degree in clinical psychology from the Center for Humanistic Studies and worked as a psychotherapist and a behavioral health care manager, where she provided services to clients on many national accounts. In her spare time, Mary Jane traveled the world: rode an elephant in India, hiked to Machu Picchu, and participated in a traditional tea ceremony in Tokyo, among other adventures. She also enjoyed the arts, especially classical music, painting, sculpture, theater, and film. She served for many years as a docent at the Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, MI. She was a great lover of animals, especially cats and dogs. And she had many loyal and beloved friends.
