In 1980, under the pressures from the Communist Poland, Marian defected from Poland due to his involvement in the Anti-Communist Solidarity Movement, and spent 10 months in Austria in a small town in the Alps, awaiting his acceptance into the USA as a Political Asylum seeker. He was sponsored by Caritas International and arrived into the USA in Oklahoma City in 1981. After only few weeks he moved to Baltimore, Maryland to be closer to his Uncle Michal, Anastasia and his five cousins, where he received employment with his cousin’s company the Clean Air Heating and Air-conditioning Company where he spent 34 years until his retirenment. He also worked a part time job as a baker in Fells Point, and attended school for English language classes and other trade schools.

Five years after his arrival in the USA, he was joined by his lovely wife and his three sons from Poland.

In his free time Marian loved to take his family on weekend excursions, camping, fishing trips and traveling around the country and the world. He had an artistic side to him where he performed as an artist in the Polish Air Force theater, as well as the Ojczyzna
