Philip Hundt, affectionately known to those close to him as Phil, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Washington DC. Born on November 10, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, Phil’s life was a rich tapestry of family devotion, professional excellence, and heartfelt passions.

A proud graduate of Archbishop Curley High School in 1974, Phil went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Towson State University in 1979. These years shaped a man who would grow into a pillar of dedication and warmth in both his personal and professional communities.

Phil’s career as a sales representative for Republic National Distributors spanned over four decades—a testament to his unwavering commitment and exceptional skill. He was an outstanding salesperson whose talent earned him numerous awards, embodying the essence of a true salesman through and through. Yet, beyond his professional accolades, it was his character that resonated most deeply with those around him. He was a friendly, approachable soul, ever dependable to his family and a steadfast brother to his siblings.

Family was at the heart of Phil’s world. To his daughter, Diana Serafino, he was a wellspring of support and encouragement. Weekly dinners with Diana and his beloved granddaughter Isabelle Serafino were among his most cherished rituals, showcasing his devotion and love across generations. His love for his granddaughter was profound and unmistakable, a light in his life that brought immeasurable joy.

Phil’s siblings—Dr. Joann Ericson, Frank Hundt Jr., Paul Hundt, and sister-in-law Renee Hundt—remember him as the brother they could always count on. The laughter born from his spirited exchanges of gag gifts with Joann each Christmas paints a vivid picture of his playful and loving nature, a tradition cherished by all who witnessed it.

Among Phil’s proudest moments was playing baseball in Camden Yards as part of the Orioles Dream Team—a dream realized and a lifelong connection to the sport he adored. An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and a passionate player himself, Phil found joy and inspiration on the baseball diamond. Golf was another cherished interest, allowing Phil the opportunity to play on some of the world’s most renowned courses, including the legendary St. Andrews.

One particularly memorable experience etched in Phil’s heart was attending the Bethlehem Steel night at Memorial Stadium with his father, Frank J Hundt Sr., whose passing, along with that of his mother, Philomena Hundt, and spouse, Sharon Hundt, marked deeply felt losses in his life.

Phil’s life was filled with the richness of close relationships, including a tight-knit group of friends from high school who remained steadfast companions throughout the years. Their camaraderie and shared memories added layers of warmth and enduring connection to his journey.

Philip Hundt leaves behind a family and circle of loved ones who carry forward his legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy. To Diana, Anthony Serafino (son-in-law), and Isabelle, along with his siblings and close friends, his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

In remembering Phil, we honor a man whose spirit was marked by unwavering loyalty, generosity of heart, and a vivacious joy for life. He was a devoted family man, a talented professional, and a friend whose presence brought light and laughter. His life story is one woven with love and vibrant memories that will continue to resonate deeply with all who knew him.
