Norma Szewczyk

March 20, 1933 — October 9, 2023

NORMA ROSEMARY SZEWCZYK (nee D'Aurora), 90, of Dundalk, MD passed away on
Monday, October 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 20,
1933, in Baltimore, MD where she resided her entire life. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 65 years Henry (Henu) Frank Szewczyk, her parents Rocco and Dominica
D'Aurora, her siblings Margaret Ceriale (nee D'Aurora), Anita Collorafice (nee D'Aurora),
Victor D'Aurora, and Nick D'Aurora.
Norma is survived by and was a loving mother to her three sons Frank (Rona) Szewczyk of
Charleston, SC, Raymond (Patricia) Szewczyk of Charleston, SC, and James (Nancy)
Szewczyk of Great Mills, MD. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren whom she
absolutely adored, Katie Sobczak, Jamie Leigh Szewczyk, Jake Sobczak, Alexandra
Szewczyk, Christina Szewczyk, Zoe Szewczyk, Henry Szewczyk, surrogate granddaughter
Chelsea Johnson (nee Swain), as well as a dear sister Theresa Cammarata (nee D'Aurora).
Norma is also survived by many more other loving family and friends.
In her twenties, Norma (Norm as her husband and many family and friends so affectionately
called her) went to work for Crown Cork and Seal where she met her husband, Henu
Szewczyk. Norma became a homemaker for the better part of her life, however, she and
Henu opened and operated an Italian restaurant called "D'Aurora's" from 1968-1978 on
Highland Avenue. After her children grew up, she held many different part-time jobs
because she loved to get out and meet new people.
Norma cherished spending time with the people she loved, especially her grandchildren.
She was always up for getting together with family and friends whether it be for a meal or
traveling. Norma was an amazing cook (who of course never used a recipe, just a little of
this and pinch of that) and she loved to cook for family and friends. Norma was most
famous for her *absolutely to die for* meatballs (which were not round), her onions peppers
and sausage, and her famous galumpkis.
Norma will be remembered for her kind heart, welcoming spirit, dedication to her faith, and
all the love she brought into this world. A graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn
Cemetery, 7225 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224 on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at
12:00 PM. Please check the obituary on the day of the service, October 12, 2023, to participate in a live steam.
