Joseph Ciesla

Joseph John Ciesla Age 70 Died Peacefully in his sleep at his home in Dundalk surrounded by family on Thursday March 14, 2024 after a year long battle with AML Leukemia.


He was predeceased by his wife Margie Ciesla in 2021


Born: March 6, 1954 in Baltimore Maryland to Benign and Martha Ciesla


He graduated from Dundalk Senior High in 1973 and began working at Bethlehem Steele Mill.


He enlisted in the United States Navy on April 15, 1974 and he served his entire enlistment on the Aircraft Carrier USS Independence CV 62 as a Boatswains Mate.


He Married his Highschool sweetheart Margie Auten on May 8, 1976 and he was Honorably Discharged from the Navy April 14, 1980.


In civilian life he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers as a Mail Clerk for over 40 years before retiring in November of 2022.


He enjoyed watching sports on tv particularly Golf and Rooting for the Orioles and Ravens. He also enjoyed going on day trips to various parks in the state and going on outings with his children and grandchildren. He could always be found on Friday nights at the VFW or American Legion Hall singing Kareoke. His go to song was Dean Martins Everybody Loves Somebody. He was also a regular member of New Light Lutheran Church in Dundalk and enjoyed Church League Bowling and Shuffleboard with his fellow veterans.


He was a member of the VFW in Edgemere, MD and he was also a lifelong member of the Fraternal Organization The Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 48 years.


Joe and Margie had 2 children. Their Son Phillip Ciesla and wife Melissa, and their Daughter Katrina Ciesla. Joe also leaves behind 3 Grand children Evelyn, Sean, and Elliana Ciesla as well as his younger sisters Barbara Ciesla, Margie Carrico, and his younger brother Eric Ciesla and more relatives than you can shake a stick at.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, 1201 Dundalk Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21222, with a sermon by Pastor Kristi King beginning promptly at 4 p.m. and an Odd Fellows service at 6 p.m..

Interment at a later date in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
