On Monday, February 16, 2026, John Lowensen Jr., beloved husband of the late Lillian M. passed away in the comfort of his loving home. Devoted and loving father of Diana L. Krotee & her husband Dale, Charles J. Lowensen & his wife Christine, and Kelly Lowensen. Devoted Poppie of Katelynne and Joseph Paradise, Keegan Lowensen and Madison Hook, Leah Krotee and Chase Weizer, Elizabeth Krotee and the late Konnor Lowensen. He was also Poppie to Finnegan Joseph (his little buddy) and Eisley Mae (his little doll baby).
John was also known as John Boy, Daddy, Poppie, Pop, Mr. John, Uncle John, Dziadek and friend. His presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone he met, and he was the heart of our family and community. He was loved by so many people. John met his Hon and married the love of his life at 22 years old after a pen pal correspondence began a love relationship that lasted for almost 68 years. Their journey together was filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering support, a testament to the power of true love.
John was a veteran, serving from 1950-1952 in the National Guard and in the United States Navy as a Seaman from 1952-1956 serving on an APA, USS Rockwall and an LST, Tallahassee County.
John was the hardest worker we have ever known, even after he retired, he worked multiple part-time jobs. His most favorite job was working in the press box for the Baltimore Orioles for 17 years. He also volunteered alongside his wife at the Salvation Army soup van, homeless shelters, Manna House, and so many more. Together, they touched countless lives with kindness and generosity, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or offer a warm meal. Their legacy of compassion lives on through The Supper Club and Earl’s Place, which grew into the Cornerstone Community, providing hope and shelter for those in need.
John was an avid Orioles and Alabama fan, proudly wearing the colors with pride even supporting them in the off seasons. He was always helping others and loved it, he would rather be busy then to sit idle.
Our father greeted every person with a smile. His blue eyes were captivating. Towards the end of his life here on earth, even at times when he was extremely short of breath and struggling to breathe, he would always ask the clinical team how they were doing and then wishing them a great rest of the day and a safe trip home. His selflessness and gentle spirit never faded, even in his hardest moments, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who cared for him. His strength and kindness will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
If you would like to pay your respects, visiting hours will be at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A., 1201 Dundalk Avenue on Friday from 2-5 pm & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service on Saturday at 10 am. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
We have been asked by friends and family about places he might like people to donate in his memory. Those desiring to make other donations in John’s name may support Cornerstone Community Housing 1400 E. Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD 21231 (cchbaltimore.org).
Thank you all for being a part of his life and for loving him as much as he loved you. John’s spirit will forever shine, guiding and protecting us from above. He was a true gem, and now he is a diamond in the sky for all to see.
