Geraldine W. Sherman

On June 30, 2026, Geraldine W. Sherman, affectionately known to all as "Gerry," passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love, quiet strength, resilience, and devotion to her family. She was 89 years old.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 6, 1936, Gerry was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Wilhelm and Hedwig Rominski (née Imbierowicz), and the cherished stepdaughter of the late Albert Rominski. She was the treasured granddaughter of the late Frances and Stanislaus Imbierowicz and niece of the late Anna Lohinski.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Bobby Wilhelm and Ken Rominski. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Barbara Bryant, Phyllis Rominski, and Albert Rominski (Linda) along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

Gerry was first and foremost a devoted mother. She leaves behind her beloved children: Lawrence Sherman (Nikku), Donna Winterling (Earl), Mark Sherman (Elizabeth), and Michele Crowley Rukowicz (Mark), Iris Sherman. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching her family grow through the generations.

She was the proud and loving grandmother of David Winterling (Jenn), Christina D'Urso (JR), Angela Peters, Melissa Slye (Phil), Christopher Sherman, Jason Winterling (Tara), Fr. Zachary Crowley, Alex Rendon-Rinehart (Anna), Jacob Crowley, McKenna Rukowicz, Rosalinda Sherman, and Devin Rukowicz. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Gerry's life was a testament to perseverance. She attended St. Casimir's Elementary School before continuing to Clara Barton High School. As a young woman, she made the extraordinary sacrifice of leaving school to help raise her younger brothers and sisters, placing family above all else. Decades later, with the same determination that defined her life, she proudly returned to complete her education in her fifties, proving that it is never too late to achieve a goal.

Her strong work ethic carried her through a successful career spanning several decades. She began at Western Electric, later worked at Esskay until the company closed, and eventually found her professional home at McCormick & Company, where she served as a Data Entry Supervisor until her well-earned retirement. She was respected for her dedication, reliability, and commitment to excellence.

Gerry dedicated her life to taking care of her beloved mother, aunt and grandmother. Besides her strong familial responsibility, she loved trips to the casino, where she shared countless laughs and memories with her childhood friends, Loretta and Gerri, and her beloved sister, Phyllis. Whether enjoying a day out, sharing stories around the table, or spending time with those she loved most, Gerry had a gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable.

More than anything, Gerry will be remembered for the sacrifices she made for her family, her quiet strength, her generous heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and selflessness, leaving an enduring legacy that will continue through the generations she so dearly loved.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who went before her and now rests in the eternal peace of God's loving embrace. Her memory will forever be a blessing, and her love will remain woven into the hearts of all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gerry's life during visitation at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A., 1201 Dundalk Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, with interment immediately following at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
