Miss Olga Volk
 1928-2017

Miss Olga Volk was born in Baltimore, MD on February 14, 1928 and died on August 17, 2017  at the age of 89 in Gilchrist Hospice.  She was the daughter of the late Lukaria (nee Soloshik) Volk and John Volk of Baltimore, formally from Russia.   She is predeceased by her sister Anna Volk Slevin, Mary Volk, and Brothers Nicholas Volk and William Volk. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Jim and Judy Slevin, Tom and Connie Slevin, Helene Lucille Volk, Beth and Chuck Lotocki, Barbara Ann Volk, Beverly Jean Volk and Dan Eaton. She is survived by numerous grand nieces and nephews; Julie and John Pettit, Mike and Amber Lotocki, Drew and Sharnee Lotocki, William and Amanda Volk, Jesse Myers, Autumn and Cornell Norman, Leila Carter and Aaron McAvoy, Naomi and Helmand Karzai, Sonja and Chris Clark, Bell Kline and Meg McCormick, Dylan Otterbein and Alec Richker. She is survived by an additional 13 great, great nieces and nephews. 

While attending Southern High School in Baltimore, Olga was a star student athlete, the #2 sportswoman in the school. She continued to be an avid sports enthusiast by supporting the Baltimore Colts, the Ravens and the Orioles. She loved all sports including soccer and especially the ice skating competition in the Olympics.  In her spare time she enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Baltimore Ski Club.  As a member of the ski club she had the opportunity to ski and travel throughout Europe.  She was able to visit her ancestral home in Russia through her many friends and contacts in the local Russian community.  Prior to retirement she worked at the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation, the former Fort Holabird and the Johns Hopkins Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry as an assistant to a biomedical researcher. After retirement Olga continued to visit family and friends, enjoyed visiting museums, attending live theater and enjoying music to include opera, pop music and Broadway shows. She loved sharing the theater and the ballet with her nieces by taking them out for their special birthday evening. Olga was an advocate for any type of wildlife and over the years cared for all of her many cats with unequivocal love and care.  

Visitation at the Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A. 1201 Dundalk Avenue on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 10 A.M. until 12 Noon. Funeral  Service on Tuesday at 12:15 P.M.   Interment in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church  Cathedral Cemetery, 6480 Elibank Drive, Elkridge, MD, 21075.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gilchrist Hospice Care, 555 W. Towsontown Blvd. Towson, MD 21204
